Danske Texel får har en historie, som stammer fra de hvidhovede,
korthalede marskfår, som gennem århundreder blev brugt på gårdene,
der ligger langs kysten fra Danmark til Nordfrankrig.

This breed of sheep has been used for centuries on farms

The Danish Texel sheep comes from the white headed, short tailed salt-meadow sheep. This breed of sheep has been used for centuries on farms along the coast from Denmark to the north of France.
Along with industrialization and the rise of agricultural productivity around the year 1900, came the improvement of the old breed. Far-sighted farmers crossed Lincoln, Leicester, Wensdale CotsWold, Hampshire Down and other breeds to form the origin of the Texel breed. This breed quickly spread throughout many countries. This is why Texel sheep from all countries look alike. However, cultural traditions as well as climate and nature have influenced the breed, so that each country has developed its own caracteristic Texel sheep.

 

Danske Texel får har en historie, som stammer fra de hvidhovede, korthalede marskfår, som gennem århundreder blev brugt på gårdene, der ligger langs kysten fra Dan mark til Nordfran krig. I forbindelse med industrialiseringen og højnelsen af produktiviteten i landbruget omkring år 1900, skete der en forædling af den gamle race. Ved hjælp af krydsning med racerne Lincoln, Leicester, Wensdale CotsWold, Hampshire Down m.fl., skabte fremsynede landmænd grundlaget for Texelracen, der hurtigt fik stor udbredelse i mange lande.
